Waiting lists in CiviCRM

Another post on the CiviCRM site, this time I'm documenting a bit of the work on the waiting list system. You can find the post here http://civicrm.org/node/524

Breaking the back of it

I'm not sure I can remember back as far as the beginning of this project but up ahead I do see a glimmer of a hint of a finishing post.

I've had a bit of a steep learning curve but I think I've managed to get a grasp of how civicrm ticks. The next step is moulding it to my will; most of which is done.

Point n Click

I bought a tiny little Canon Digital Ixus 80 for my wife the other day and I have to say that despite its size, it does do a very good job of taking a picture. I'm not a photographer and don't profess to be, nor does a professional snapper user a compact but there are times when it is useful to have one.

Later this year I will get myself a Canon powerhot g10 which is currently getting good reviews across the tinterweb. I used a g9 and was suitably impressed so in theory this one should be great as most reviews I have read say it beats the g9 hands down.

CiviCRM success story

While squatting in the civicrm irc channel the other day Andrew_Mallis was asking about a multisite install of civicrm and drupal. Apparently he got it working and given that there's a good chance I'll need to do this too, here is the forum thread with the answers. http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,6458.0.html

Coffee shop code

I think I could probably count on 1 hand the number of times I've ventured into a coffee shop on my own to purchase a beverage. There's normally no need for me to be there; I don't like tea or coffee, I don't like the smell and I don't know the code.

CiviCRM and Sage

I'm afraid this is a blog about a blog. I have a bit of a task ahead of me and part of which is integrating CiviCRM with Sage. I have a few questions I'd like to put to the community so the best place for it is to ask directly on the CiviCRM site. You can have a good read here

UPDATE:
It seems I have more things to write about so here is another blog about possible future development ideas for CiviCRM here

So how different is 'different'?

So having spent a month or 2 working on CiviCRM recently I'm coming to realise how different civi is to drupal. While some of the principals draw parallels with what drupal does, I was really thrown with the complexity of civicrm, or so I thought. I suppose in reality the complexity is about the same, its the execution that differs.

New year sugar high

By rights I should still be asleep getting my body back in check. The reality is, I had so much sugary drink last night that my heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest. 4 hours of sleep was enough it seems before I was suddenly wide awake and desperate for more water. I can still feel the effects of so much caffeine and sugar now.

Therefore today's resolution is to get sober, drink plenty of water and try to get my body clock back to how it should be. I'm sure there's a bacon sarnie in there somewhere too.

Laughter is the best medicine

I have just managed to secure myself a few tickets for Ross Noble's Things tour next year at Birmingham hippodrome. I suggest you grab yourself a ticket if you've never seen him before. The Birmingham hippodrome website is here: Hippodrome The bloke is a genius. His mind works at a million miles an hour (faster than mine even). See you there.

Spaced out on paint fumes

I can't believe how long it takes to paint the hand-rail and spindles on my staircase. So far I've been at it 2 days. On the upside I'm going to have a few days off in Paris soon so that'll compensate for the mindless tedium of painting.
